Sintra Private Tour
The Portuguese Fairytale
Meeting Point: Jardim Correnteza in Sintra
3 hours
Every day at 11:00
With its lush, exotic landscape and unique microclimate, Sintra became, during the 19th century, the preferred summer retreat of Portuguese nobles and aristocrats, who transformed the hills into a romantic landscape of palaces and gardens. Since then, the town has inspired travelers from around the world, including the British poet Lord Byron and the German composer Richard Strauss, both captivated by its timeless charm.
Reconized as a World Heritage Cultural Landscape by Unesco in 1995, Sintra is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful destinations in Portugal - a place no visitor should miss.
Starting at Jardim Correnteza, we explore the charming streets of Sintra Village, uncovering its history, legends and royal traditions. Along the way, you will also have the opportunity to taste the famous local pastries: Queijada de Sintra and Travesseiro de Sintra - true symbols of local gastronomy.

-
Moorish Castle - a medieval fortress overlooking the town
-

Lisbon Jewish Tour
Discover Lisbon's Jewish Heritage
Meeting Point: Praça do Comércio, underneath the big arch
Available on request
3 hours
Join one of our expert guides and discover the rich and complex history of Lisbon's Jewish community, exploring the traces they left across the city and their lasting influence on Portuguese society.
Jewish communities settled throughout the Iberian Peninsula between the 5th and the 15th centuries, establishing vibrant centers of life in what is now Portugal. Over the centuries, they played a fundamental role in shaping Portuguese culture, science, commerce, and intelectual life.
Protected for long periods by the Portuguese Crown, many Jewish residents became respected philosophers, physicians, scientists, and merchants with influence at court.
We'll start the tour visiting Alfama, the location of one of the city's medieval Jewish Quarters. As we explore its winding streets, we will uncover stories of coexistence, tradition, and community life.
Continuing into Baixa district, well delve deeper into the history of Jewish Lisbon, discussing the former Judiaria, the establishment of the Inquisition, and the tragic Lisbon Massacre of 1506. The tour will address forced conversions, the emergence of Crypto-Judaism, and the important role New Christians played in shipbuilding, navigation, and the achievement of the Portuguese Age of Discoveries.
Finally, in the elegant Chiado district - the cultural heart of Lisbon - we shift to the 20th century and discover how Portugal became a safe haven for Jewish refugees during World War II. You will hear the remarkable story of Aristides de Sousa Mendes, often called the "Portuguese Oskar Schindler" and how Jewish refugees left their mark on Portuguese society and gastronomy.
This is a powerful journey through centuries of faith, persecution, resilience, and cultural legacy - revealing a vital chapter of Lisbon's history that continues to shape the city today.
